Résumé :
This article discusses the discursive construction of ethics in Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s naturalization ceremony speech. Steinmeier’s discourse helps understand that language can help construct particular representations of immigration. Thus, immigration is not simply adding demographic value but beneficial. The study explores the linguistic and ideological construction of immigration ethics in Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s naturalization ceremony speech. Moreover, it seeks to show how discursive constructions serve to legitimize the formation of national identity and integration. The analysis is anchored in Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis approach and it uses a qualitative method. It reveals that these ethical constructions are intended to influence public perceptions of migration. The findings show that immigration ethics is discursively constructed through legitimacy, democratic values and identity construction.
