Résumé :
The present study focuses on the perception of a foreign language that is English by baule kode (a languge poken in Cote d’Ivoire) speakers. The objective of this work is to analyse how do kode speakers perceive and produce the different English vowels sounds. Speech is natural. It is also a systematically organized activity that intends to convey meaning. The current paper shows that kode speakers perceive English vowels as those which exist in kode. This perception is the result of a structuring inadequate information imposed by selective habit from their native language perception.
